My (Almost) Minimalist Makeup Collection | Part 2

by - August 07, 2019

At last, part two of my makeup collection. I wasn't sure if I was gonna need to do a part three but I think this post isn't too long.

For brows, I only have one product. I used to have two and I definitely want to get another tube of Essence's brow gel but for now, I only have the NYX Tame & Frame Tinted Brow Pomade in the shade Espresso. I love the way it looks and the look it gives my brows. I always use it with an angled brush to just fill my brows in a tiny bit since my biggest problem is lack of hair (I have very thick eyebrow hairs but there aren't that many of them)
For eyeliners and mascara (I put these two categories together just to save space) I have the Basic Cosmetics Eyeliner in black, I prefer this kind of eyeliner that you dip the tip in the product, I feel like it lasts longer that way and doesn't waste so much product, and the Catrice Eyeliner Pen for some sharper wings since the tip is sharper on this one than on the Basic Cosmetics one. For mascara I only have the Catrice All Round Mascara, I rarely wear mascara so this is only for the few occasions I do a more glam look and feel the need to make my lashes pop more.

For eyeshadow, I currently own four palettes and four single eyeshadows.
The palettes are the Morphe Live In Color Palette which is very colourful and not very everyday-ish although I wouldn't mind using it every day. The Colourpop Dream St. Palette which is a bit more neutral but can also do some fun looks with it since it has a pink and two blue shades. And for every day neutral palettes I have the Essence All About Nudes and All About Roses palettes which I believe have been discontinued but I love them and they're amazing quality and I use them almost every day and mixed with every other palette.
For single shadows, I own a Catrice Highlighting Eyeshadow in the shade Golden Nights which I use as an inner corner highlighter, a Catrice Art Couleurs Eyeshadow in the shade Parisiens' Lifestyle which is a matte brown I use all over the lid or on the crease and outer corner only to give my eye some dimension, a Catrice Absolute Eye Colour in the shade Coppercabana which I often use all over the lid for a rose gold look and a Kiko Water Eyeshadow in the shade Plum which I also use all over the lid when I want a darker look. These are shades I use every day because they're neutral and/or look great just by themselves all over the lid.

Now for lip products, my favourite category. This is the category I'll most likely not keep minimalist because I love lip products so much I just keep on buying them. I am trying though, I haven't bought a lip product in a really long time. Also, a little disclaimer that a couple of these I bought them before going cruelty-free and I do still use them because I think it's a waste to throw them out but I obviously won't buy them again.
For lip liners, I own a few red ones but it's only because I used to work in a place where I had to wear red lipstick every day so I ended up trying a few red liners. The first one you see in the copper packaging is a Kiko Everlasting Colour Precision Lip Liner in the shade Red, the formula is good but the packaging isn't the best (it either came broke already or I broke it the first time I used it); the three liners on the right are from Basic Cosmetics and they're amazing quality and super creamy for wooden pencils; on the left the coral one is the Essence Lip Liner in the shade Wish Me a Rose which is extremely dry since it's a wooden pencil and I honestly rarely use it anymore; the two bottom ones are the NYX Lip Liner in the shade Hot Red and the one at the very bottom is the Kylie Lip Liner in Mary Jo K.
For lipsticks, the black one at the top is the Essence Longlasting Lipstick in the shade Coral Calling, not my favourite formula but it's not terrible; the red one next to it is the Rimmel Lasting Finish by Kate Lipstick in the shade 107 which I love but since it's not cruelty-free I won't be buying it again; the black and white one is the Flormar Revolution Perfect Lipstick in the shade On Rose Frontier which lives in my bag since it's such a neutral "my lips but better" shade; the copper one is the Colourpop Lux Lipstick in the shade Lay Over which is my new favourite lipstick; the silver one is the Makeup Factory Lipstick (I don't know what shade it is) and it's a dark burgundy shade I love to use in the fall and winter; and the one on the bottom right is the Kiko Velvet Passion Matte Lipstick in the shade Poppy Red which is my favourite red lipstick (I decluttered another one I had just to keep this one).
I actually thought I had more liquid Lipsticks than I do, I don't know why. The bright pink one is the NYX Liquid Suede Cream Lipstick in the shade Respect The Pink which I honestly rarely wear but I've worn it as an liquid liner and it looks great; the red one is the Kylie Matte Liquid Lipstick in Mary Jo K (whose lid has been bitten by a very hungry pup); the one next to it is the NYX Liquid Suede Cream Lipstick in the shade Soft-Spoken which is the perfect shade for my skin tone, I love it; and the last one is the NYX Lingerie Liquid Lipstick in the shade Lace Detail which can be tricky to apply but once you get the hang of it, it looks great.
And finally for lip glosses, I only own two but I use them both a lot and I love them. They're both the Essence Shine Shine Shine Lip Glosses, in the shades Happiness in a Bottle (the more nude one) which I keep in my bag at all times because it's just so neutral and the other one is in the shade Indie Romance which I love how it looks bright but it's not too bright, perfect for spring and summer.

I hope you're having a great day,
Marta Ribeiro xx
