How My Life Has Changed in the Past Few Years

by - August 21, 2019

The title sounds deep but it's actually not deep at all. I'm 22 years old and I think this teenager to adult transition is the most extreme one of our lives when it comes to lifestyle. You go from going to school every day to going to a job every day, you go from asking your parents for money to having your own, you're allowed to drive and drink, you get more responsibilities but also more freedom. And all of this ends up in lifestyle changes that go from something huge like what we do all day to the little things about our day. And those are the changes I'll be talking about, little lifestyle changes that have occurred in the past few years.

Minimalism
Marie Kondo took the world by storm and brought with her a philosophy of only keeping things that bring you joy. On that note, as I've grown up I realized how true that is and how freeing it is to live with only what's necessary and get rid of clutter. Clutter might make your house look like a home in the Sims but in real life, it just ends up looking like a mess.

Plant Mom
Who would've thought? Definitely not me. I didn't know one thing about plants and now look at me, taking care of plants like the responsible plant mom that I am. I've tried over the years to garnish my room with plants but they sadly never survived much longer but now I'm getting more educated and it has definitely made me love taking care of plants a lot more. Any suggestions on plants and flowers you think I should get?

Cruelty-free & Vegan
The number of non-vegan meals in my life is dropping fast and I'm loving it. As far as cosmetics go, soon after I created this blog, I changed everything and started to use only cruelty-free products and I couldn't be happier with my decision. I've always loved animals but it was only when I started growing up and realizing what I was doing to harm them that I decided to make a change and I hope to inspire somebody else out there to make a change as well.

Jewelry
If three years ago you had told me that today I'd be sitting here with pierced ears and wearing jewelry a few times a week I would've not believed you. I made the decision of piercing my ears on a whim and I'm happy I did. I've been thinking about getting more piercings because they're pretty addictive but I haven't gotten around to doing it yet, I want to find a good place to do them. When it comes to necklaces and bracelets I'm still working on it as I've always hated the feeling of stuff on me, if that makes sense. But earrings are totally my favourite.

And those are pretty much all the small lifestyle changes that have happened in the past few years. In a couple of years, there'll probably be more as I keep growing up. Also, I didn't know if I should mention the fact that I also have a furry son but I feel like that's a big change, not a small one so I didn't talk about it, just in case you were wondering. What changes have happened in your life? Let me know in the comments below.

I hope you're having a great day,
Marta Ribeiro xx
