My (Almost) Minimalist Makeup Collection | Part 1

by - July 24, 2019

When I was 15 and was just starting to get into makeup, my dream was to have a collection as big as the ones beauty gurus on YouTube had. Now, I don't really want that anymore. I realized I don't love spending money on makeup products and have them sit on my makeup drawer for a long time because I either forget I have them or I have something better I'd rather use. I'm constantly decluttering my makeup collection and throwing out anything that's expired or that I don't love and use and might as well give it away before it expires and I have to throw it in the trash.
As you know, I always try to keep my makeup products to a minimum and only allow myself to get something new if the product I'm currently using is almost over. That's why I said I almost have a minimalist collection because, at the end of the day, I'll probably still have products that aren't as important. I'm currently trying my best to declutter products I rarely use (check out my Project Pan posts) and once I'm done I'll keep my makeup to a minimum and only own one or two of each category (eyeshadows and lip products being the only exceptions because of colour selection).
To track my progress and also show you how I survive with such a small collection (how dramatic), I thought I'd share with you the products that I own, use and love every day.

Base
I currently own three primers (two of them are in Project Pan), two foundations and two concealers. My goal is to own the Flormar Mattifying Makeup Primer only, as it works wonders with my foundations and declutter the other two.
The only foundations I own are the Catrice HD Liquid Coverage foundation in the shade Light Beige, which is my holy grail and use it every day, and the Giordani Gold Age Defying Foundation in the shade Porcelain (it's a tad bit dark) which is very dewy and has very little coverage but it was gifted to me so I'm using it up.
For concealers, I own the Catrice Liquid Camouflage concealer in the shade Porcellain (not a typo, it does have two L's) which is the best and only concealer I truly love, and the Essence Camouflage+ concealer in the shade 20 which is extremely drying and I'm dying to use it up (expect to see it in a future Project Pan) and the only reason I got it was because they didn't have my shade at the time in the Catrice concealer so I got this one to try it out. Terrible decision, I should've just waited.

Powders
This is a category I definitely want to declutter and you can expect to see some of these items in future Project Pan posts. For setting powders I own three and I'm only looking forward to decluttering one of them, the other two are staying and I'll keep repurchasing them as they end. The one I want to get rid of is the Flormar Wet & Dry Compact Powder in the shade Medium Caramel, it's not as good as the one I'm gonna mention next so I'm not gonna repurchase it. My favourite and the one I use every day is the Catrice All Matt Plus compact powder in the shade Universal, it's good quality and super cheap. And for a loose powder to bake underneath my eyes, I have the Morphe Bake & Set powder in the shade Translucent.
For bronzers, I currently own two, one of them actually being a contour. The one you see all shattered is the backup to a product that's currently on Project Pan, and lucky me, it's new and it's shattered already (note the sarcasm?). This Catrice Sun Glow Bronzing Powder in the shade Medium Bronze is warm toned but not too much, it's perfect to bronze up my cheeks and give me a summer glow, I use it every day. The duo is the Catrice Prime and Fine Contouring Palette in the shade Sunny Sympathy which is what I use to contour. It's been discontinued so I don't know what I'm gonna do with my life once this one ends. It also comes with a highlighter but I don't use it so I'm honestly not concerned about using it up before throwing it away.
For blush, I only own one palette and I'd like to say I'm gonna keep it that way but once this ends I will venture out and try some new blushes, maybe some high-end ones. I think this palette might've been discontinued as well. All the lettering has rubbed off but this is the Catrice Blush Artist Shading Palette in the shade 030, which contains a glowy peachy pink, a matt pink and glowy baby pink (which I don't use because it's too light for me). The only shades I use are the darker pinks, sometimes by themselves, other times mixed together.
And finally for highlighters, I currently own the Catrice High Glow Mineral Highlighting Powder  in the shade Light Infusion, which looks very natural and pearly and I use it every day, and the Colourpop Super Shock Highlighter in the shade Stole The Show, which I use for more glam makeup looks as it's quite pigmented and shimmery.

I hope you're having a great day,
Marta Ribeiro xx
