Colourpop Dream St. Eyeshadow Palette, Super Shock Highlighter and Lux Lipstick REVIEW

You might be wondering why I'm reviewing three products in one post. The truth is, these products aren't new and to me, it didn't make much sense to review them separately and waste time and blog posts on products you can find a million reviews of. But even though these came out a long time ago, they're still new to me because I've only just now placed an order with Colourpop.
Not only will I loosely review the products, but I'll also review my experience as a whole.
For instance, shipping. I ordered from them when I saw they were having a promotion of free international shipping, no exceptions. They had just posted about it on their Instagram 20 minutes prior to me seeing it and I was already on their website making my picks. I needed an eyeshadow palette and a highlighter and my love for lip products made me get another lipstick. Since Colourpop doesn't have a physical store I can look at the products in, I had to make a guess on what the products looked like. I looked up swatches on Google and made my choices. The shipping was free so I ended up only paying for the products which is a huge bonus until I got a letter in the mail telling me my parcel was stuck in customs. I had to pay about 23€ to get my parcel which considering I hadn't paid for shipping, it wasn't too bad but if I had paid for shipping I probably wouldn't pay customs and just send back the package. It's not Colourpop's fault, obviously, but it's not my fault either that I had to pay customs. If I ever order again from Colourpop I'm definitely gonna keep this in mind because paying nearly as much customs as what I paid for my order isn't fun.

Let's begin with the product I was most excited about and the one I loved the most: Dream St. eyeshadow palette. KathleenLights is one of my favourite YouTubers and I really debated between this Dream St. palette or the Zodiac one but I figured this one was more up my alley and had more colours I needed. As soon as I got it in the mail I noticed the palette looked a bit smaller than I was expecting, for some reason. I don't know where I got the idea it'd be bigger than it was, I've seen it on Kathleen's videos a bunch of times. I used it as soon as I got the chance and I loved every bit of it. The shadows are super pigmented, they do have a bit of fallout which I'm not a fan of because I feel like I'm wasting beautiful product but I can live with it. It has a ton of warm shades that I love to use for everyday looks and I can't wait to try some fun blue and pink looks in the spring and summer. This palette was definitely worth every dollar (as if it was pricey anyways...)

My second favourite product was the lipstick. I was in need of a darker nude, similar to my favourite lip product ever, the NYX Liquid Suede in Sandstorm. After seeing swatches of it online, I decided to get the shade Lay Over even though I was afraid it'd be too peach and wouldn't look good on my skin tone. When I first opened it, my fears didn't go away and it did seem very peach toned but as soon as I tried it on it immediately became a favourite. I love that it's a bit darker than my skin which to me is the kind of nude that looks best on me and the shade is really neutral and looks good with warmly toned makeup looks but also with cool toned looks. It has a very creamy and comfortable finish but I feel like after a while it does dry down a bit. It doesn't last ages on the lips but it lasts pretty well for a creamy finish. I know I'm gonna get so much wear out of it all year long.

And lastly, the highlighter. I needed a new highlighter, not that the one I usually use was almost over or anything, but I wanted another option as I was a bit tired of using the same one every day. I looked up swatches online and decided to get the shade Stole The Show. I didn't want something too gold because I'm pretty pale and I didn't want something similar to the one I already had from Catrice so I picked this champagne colour. Swatching it on my hand, I loved it. Putting on my face is a different story. I heard that Colourpop powder products like these highlighters or their eyeshadows look the best when being used with a synthetic brush which is what I used (typical duo fiber fan brush). When I first put it on my face all I could really see was the glitter. None of the shimmer and sheen of the product had transferred onto the skin. Am I doing something wrong? I tried applying it with my finger as well but it didn't work either. The texture of the product is really weird but interesting at the same time. It looks dry but when you touch it, it appears to be wet. It's very creamy and moussey and I don't think brushes are the best tool for them. I think I should try it with those tiny Beauty Blenders or just a small sponge, I'll let you know how it works. (On the website it also says that it's best used with a flat synthetic brush to get more coverage, I'll try that too)

Have you tried anything from Colourpop? If not, what would you like to try? I'd love to try their concealers and foundations but I'm too scared to order the wrong shade... haha

I hope you're having a great day,
Marta Ribeiro xx
