How to go from Floppy Sporty to Feminine Casual

by - April 25, 2016

Because sometimes we wanna feel comfortable and still look good. My style is nothing like casual but sometimes I just want to wear a t-shirt, jeans and sneakers but still remain loyal to my style. Today was one of those days. And I will tell you how I style a casual look and make it more feminine and overall more me.

The first thing to do is pick your t-shirt and it can't be just any t-shirt. It needs to be comfortable but also not too big. If you want an oversized shirt then go for one a couple sizes bigger than one you would normally wear and tuck it inside your jeans.
The second thing to do is pick your jeans. Either go for a really fun and cute colour like yellow, purple, pink like mine, etc. or go for a light denim wash. Specially now that the nice weather is coming, lighter, brighter colours are the key to go from simple to fun.
The third thing to do is pick your sneakers. With these you can pretty much go for whatever you want for as long as they're comfortable. Either black or white for a more minimalist look or fun coloured for a more spring/summer vibe.
Now that the base is done, the rest of the pieces, accessories and makeup are the ones that will really make a difference.

First, pick a nice jacket/coat. Instead I picked a denim shirt that works just as well. The important thing is that it should be tight and flattering on your body, if you went for a regular t-shirt; and loose and baggy if you went for an oversized t-shirt. If you go for oversized pieces never wear a jacket or shirt much bigger than the t-shirt, otherwise it will look floppy, so go for a couple sizes bigger than your regular size.
The next step is all about accessories. I don't really like accessories but if you do feel free to be adventurous and wear several necklaces or several bracelets and make it look fun.
And the last step is all about hair and makeup. Since this is a comfortable look, the obvious hairstyle would be a ponytail or a bun. But don't be shy when it comes to hair accessories. Wear a cute bandana or a cute elastic or make a cute braid and hide the elastic with it by turning it around it. The options are endless. With your makeup it's also a time to be adventurous. Go for the sprakly or bright eyeshadows, the defined contour, false lashes, the bright blusher and don't forget the bright lipstick to finish it off. But never forget that it's all about balance. Today I decided to go for a more muted pink on the eyes and make it all about my skin and lips, balancing things out.

And these are my tips on how to look casual but still add your own personality to it, making it more feminine and fun.
I hope you're having a great day,
Marta Ribeiro xx
